Dedication to the American Cannabis Nurses Association (ACNA)

Sherry joined the American Cannabis Nurse Association in 2018 where she served on the Education, Policy, Research, and Student Member Committees before being asked to join the sub-committee task force known as the Credentialing Committee. She eagerly contributed time with other dedicated members to collaborate, design, and write the ACNA Scope and Standards of Practice since the first version was drafted. Sherry authored part of the Affirmation of Practice to gain American Nurses Association (ANA) recognition of Cannabis Nursing, as well as multiple documents supporting the current 2024 ANA Scope and Standard of Practice for Cannabis Nursing publication.

One of her proudest accomplishments and contributions to the nursing profession was September 27, 2023, when the ANA nationally recognized Cannabis Nursing as an official nursing specialty. This historic recognition shared with committee members spanning five years validates her efforts, dedication, and commitment to ACNA where she revealed abilities as a nurse leader and one of many “Keepers of the Flame” needed to manifest cannabis nursing being recognized nationally. She intends to continue lighting the pathway for nurses nationwide with her colleagues as she steps forward as a candidate running for President-Elect 2025.
